If you follow our technicians page on Instagram, you know our Parker & Sons techs geniuely enjoy their work. What are some of the additional benefits of choosing HVAC over a different field? We asked our techs, and here are all of the awesome reasons they shared with us.
It’s true that there are a lot of jobs where you help people, but a lot of times you don’t get to see the way that you’re immediately benefiting them.
For example, being a call center employee, or a chef, or an engineer, or just generally working in an office … you KNOW that you’re helping people every day, but it would be nice to be able to see it. To be able to see that look of, “Wow, you just saved me!!” on a customer’s face after you fix their furnace on a cold day or their air conditioner on a hot day. You are ensuring they’re safe and comfortable … the most basic of all human needs. And that’s an awesome job, at least in our humble opinion!
OK, so not EVERYONE would think that being an HVAC tech is fun, but it suits a certain personality type awesomely.
Were you the kid in school who loved learning about the mechanisms of how things worked, and getting to be hands-on, instead of chained to your desk? Was physics or chemistry your favorite subject? Then, we think being an HVAC tech would be ideal for you because you get to be a hands-on problem solver.
Every new HVAC system you work with is almost like a puzzle, when it comes to troubleshooting what you need to do. Do we need to mention the part again about not being trapped behind a desk?
To quote one of our field managers: “It’s a good career. I’ve been in it for 20 years. Love what you do. Do what you love.”
