In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Parker & Sons is reaffirming its commitment to community service through its 50 Acts of Kindness campaign. This campaign aims to give back to the community that has supported the company over the past five decades. One recent act of kindness includes providing essential home repairs for Aidita Delehoy, a seventy-six-year-old Chandler resident.
Charlie Coates, a Comfort Consultant at Parker & Sons, nominated Aidita Delehoy for this act of kindness. Charlie knows Aidita through their church and is aware of the significant challenges she faces. “Aidita is one of the kindest people I know, and she’s been through so much,” said Coates. “When I heard she was using a stepladder to access her cooler, that was enough for me. I knew I needed to help her. That’s when I thought of the 50 Acts of Kindness we’re doing this year at Parker & Sons.”
Aidita's life was tragically altered when her husband, Eldon, died in a car accident while they were en route to her mother-in-law's funeral. Eldon suffered a heart attack while driving, leading to the crash that left Aidita with severe injuries, including head and neck trauma, multiple fractures, and a punctured lung. Aidita spent a month in a Colorado hospital and continues to receive medical care for her injuries. Due to her injuries and the loss of her husband, Aidita struggles to make ends meet and relies on friends and neighbors for rides to doctor appointments and help with shopping and lawn care.
After Charlie’s nomination, Parker & Sons sent one of their top HVAC technicians, Justin Kelly, to assess Aidita's cooling system. Justin found that her 13-year-old HVAC unit had a refrigerant leak and needed extensive repairs. Understanding the high cost of repairs, Parker & Sons donated and installed a brand-new Lennox HVAC package unit. Additionally, Justin discovered that Aidita's rooftop evaporative cooler was beyond repair. Marty Coppa, from Ferguson, generously arranged to donate a new evaporative swamp cooler, which Parker & Sons installed. “We wanted to replace her entire system and update her electrical so that she doesn’t have anything to worry about for at least ten years,” said Kelly. “I’m so grateful we could help Aidita with her home and make life a little more comfortable.”
During the installation, HVAC installer Matt Perry also inspected Aidita's electrical panel, finding it unsafe and inadequate for the new HVAC system. Jared De La Vega, Electrical Field Manager at Parker & Sons, agreed to replace the main electrical panel to ensure the home's electrical system could handle the new equipment safely. (Note: This project is still in progress and awaiting permits.) Furthermore, Alayna Chavez from the plumbing team relocated the main water shut-off valve for the evaporative cooler to a lower, more accessible spot in the garage under the supervision of Plumbing Department Manager Rob Weinhauer. Parker and Sons also provided $1000 for additional expenses that Aidita may have.
"We are deeply committed to giving back to our community, and our '50 Acts of Kindness' initiative is a testament to that commitment," said a Parker & Sons spokesperson. "Aidita's story touched our hearts, and we are honored to be able to provide her with the comfort and safety she deserves. This is what our 50th anniversary celebration is all about—making a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us."
